Appendix E: APPX Environment Variables
RDBMS - Sybase Variables
APPX_SYBASE_DATABASE
Specifies a default Sybase database name. This variable is superseded by the new RDBMS-related options you can enter for FMS Groups and in File Specifications on the Database Management menu. These options are more flexible than environment variables and are the preferred choice. This information is presented for completeness.
Valid values: existing Sybase database name
Default value: not set
APPX_SYBASE_LEVEL0
Enables “Level 0” table locking in Sybase. This is still a development feature and should not be enabled unless requested by APPX Software.
Valid values: 1
Default value: not set
APPX_SYBASE_LIB
Specifies the Sybase library location for dynamic linking. Normally there is a preset Sybase-based environment variable that points to the home directory for the user ‘sybase’. In some cases you may want APPX to dynamically link to a set of libraries that is not in the usual location (for example, when testing a new version). In that case, set APPX_SYBASE_LIB to that alternate location, and that will override Sybase’s setting.
Valid values: path to Sybase library
Default value: not set
APPX_SYBASE_PACK_SIZE
Determines the packet size for Sybase database server communications. Setting this variable to 4096 may improve communications efficiency.
Valid values: integers
Default value: not set
APPX_SYBASE_SERVER
Specifies the default Sybase server name. This variable has been superseded by FMS group settings, and is included here only for completeness.
Valid values: valid Sybase server name
Default value: not set
