Debugging - Windows Variables
APPX_NO_STACK_DUMPS
Disables stack dumps on Windows systems. CAUTION: Do not set this variable unless instructed to do so by APPX Technical Support, as stack dumps (the appx.stk file) are normally quite useful in diagnosing APPX software issues.
Valid values: 1
Default value: not set
APPX_PRELOAD_MAX
Avoids a “panic – memory allocation error” under certain circumstances. If you use APPX in a shared network disk configuration, with PC clients having APPXPATH set to a server’s disk drive, you may need to set this variable. When APPX pre-loads an Executable Module, it first looks to see how big the EM is. When it does this across a network using Windows network file sharing, sometimes an incorrect number is returned. This is due to a bug in Windows. Since the number returned is usually quite large, APPX can try to allocate as much as 3 or 4 gigabytes of memory for that EM. This causes the above-mentioned memory allocation error. Setting this variable disables the pre-load, and therefore avoids the error.
