Appendix E: APPX Environment Variables

RDBMS - ODBC Variables

(SQL Server, Access, etc.)

APPX_ODBC_AUTOCOMMIT

Enables the auto-commit flag for SQL Server. If you are accessing SQL Server data from APPX, you should set this variable to enable auto-commit. Superseded by the new RDBMS-related options that can be entered for FMS Groups and in File Specifications on the Database Management menu. These options are more flexible and are the preferred choice. This information is included for completeness.

Valid values: 1

Default value: not set

APPX_ODBC_ISOLATION

Tells APPX to request transaction isolation level 0 from the ODBC database being accessed. (Isolation levels may or may not be supported; this just requests it.) Setting this variable allows APPX to read data that has not yet been committed, which can avoid some potential deadlock situations. Do not set this variable unless requested by APPX Software.

Valid values: 1

Default value: not set

APPX_ODBC_LIB

Specifies the ODBC driver manager DLL location, for dynamic linking. The default should almost always be sufficient, but if not you can override the default by setting this variable. For example, if the ODBC driver manager DLL is not in the %WINDOWS_ROOT% directory, set this to the full path of its location.

Valid values: path to ODBC driver manager DLL

Default value: odbc32.dll
