Appendix E: APPX Environment Variables
Debugging - RDBMS Access Variables
APPX_DBG_CODE
Sets the debug level for APPX_SQL_CMD, described below. When it is needed, this variable is normally set to 0xFFFFFFFF.
Valid values: hex numbers between 0x00000000 and 0xFFFFFFFF
Default value: 0x00000000
APPX_SQL_CMD
Specifies an SQL Log into which APPX will write all SQL traffic from APPX and the RDBMS and back. The log records all commands APPX sends to the RDBMS, and all data the RDBMS sends back to APPX. This is a useful tool for diagnosing RDBMS back-end problems.
RDBMS's supported include Oracle, Sybase, SQL Server and MS-Access. The last two options use the APPX/ODBC interface.
Alternatively, create an ODBC log from Windows: Bring up the ODBC Administrator program used originally to set up the data source. In the "Tracing" tab, click on "Start Tracing" to start and "Stop Tracing" to stop. A trace must be started before your APPX session ever accesses the data file. If APPX tries to access the data and fails, you must completely exit APPX, and go back in, to get a trace.
Valid values: path to a write-enabled log file
Default value: not set
