What You Need and Where to Begin

Connect 64-bit Windows programs to APPX 6.2.1 through the matching gateway and supplied driver. Install the components, create SQL definitions with ASQL, then check complete field values before using a query result.

Observed limitation: the tested stack returns COUNTRY and PROSPECT records, but Unicode-storage text is truncated or damaged and text predicates return incorrect rows. Numeric, date and RAW fields match the independently exported native files. No verified ODBC client setting restores the missing text. For the nearest complete sample-data success, see the 5.5.4 32-bit configuration, which uses its matching older engine/gateway and the 6.2.1 32-bit client driver. That result requires a different engine/gateway combination; changing this edition's client driver alone is not an accepted repair.

Read the tested versions and the field-value comparison before continuing. A successful login or correct record count does not establish correct data.

Requirements

• A licensed APPX 6.2.1 installation and an authorized APPX login.
• The matching Windows 64-bit gateway and driver-with-ASQL packages.
• Administrator access for installation and System DSN creation.
• A 64-bit client application and the 64-bit ODBC Administrator.
• The DMO database/application COUNTRY sample for the recipes. Use a disposable test copy when importing metadata.
