Chapter 3: Make APPX Files Available to SQL
Check Every COUNTRY Record and Field
Execute these as separate statements, using WinSQL or the PowerShell recipe:
SELECT COUNT(*) FROM DMO_DMO_COUNTRY
SELECT * FROM DMO_DMO_COUNTRY ORDER BY name
The unmodified test sample contains 7 records and 9 columns. Its country names are Canada, France, Ireland, Netherlands, UK, USA and United States. USA and United States are separate records in this sample.
| name | region_label | no_words | post_code_loc |
|---|---|---|---|
| Canada | Province | 2 | AFTER REGION |
| France | County | 1 | SEPARATE LINE |
| Ireland | County | 0 | |
| Netherlands | 2 | BEFORE CITY | |
| UK | County | 2 | SEPARATE LINE |
| USA | State | 1 | AFTER REGION |
| United States | State | 1 | AFTER REGION |
The other columns are city_sep_line, added_by, date_added, changed_by and date_changed. Some audit dates and text values are empty. Compare the complete rows, including those empty dates, with the APPX COUNTRY file. A count alone does not establish that the values are correct.
If the DMO sample has been changed, compare the query result with the current APPX file. Test other applications and data types with representative records before relying on them.
