Chapter 4: Read APPX Data with WinSQL

Connect WinSQL and Read COUNTRY

  1. Open WinSQL32. The tested release is WinSQL 15.0.261.801, 32-bit.
  2. Select File → New Connection and choose AppxODBC.
  3. Enter the APPX user and password and leave Remember Password unchecked.
  4. Choose Generic ODBC as the database plug-in and select OK.
  5. Execute SELECT COUNT(*) FROM DMO_DMO_COUNTRY. The result is 7.
  1. Replace that statement with SELECT * FROM DMO_DMO_COUNTRY ORDER BY name and execute it separately.

The result should contain the full country names and the expected sample values. Run one statement at a time. Submitting both statements together produces a syntax error in this setup.

WinSQL32 returns all seven COUNTRY records through the default AppxODBC source against APPX 5.5.4.
