Chapter 7: Read APPX Data with 32-bit PowerShell
Check the Driver Architecture and Gateway Connection
These commands inspect the configuration without displaying a password. Run each command separately in Windows PowerShell:
Get-OdbcDriver -Name 'AppxODBC Driver' -Platform '32-bit' | Select-Object Name, Platform Get-OdbcDsn -Name AppxODBC -DsnType System -Platform '32-bit' | Select-Object Name, DriverName, Platform, DsnType Test-NetConnection localhost -Port 1990 -InformationLevel Quiet
The first two commands should show the 32-bit driver and System DSN. The last returns True when a TCP connection to the local gateway succeeds. On a separate desktop, replace localhost with the gateway hostname. This tests the TCP listener; the credential-prompting SQL query checks the remaining login and data path.
After changing an installed driver or DSN, close and restart clients, including PowerShell. An existing process can retain a previously loaded driver even though the DSN now points to a different file. The 5.5.2 query was verified from a fresh process.
