Chapter 2: The APPX Environment
Introduction
Depending on the size and complexity of your organization, there may be one or more key people that can assist you in learning about APPX. The following provides a brief description of the key people in an APPX environment:
- The system administrator is responsible for installing APPX on your computer, and for defining in APPX the type of computer configuration you have (for example, terminals and printers). In addition, this person establishes any security controls for your applications.
- The database administrator is responsible for all aspects of file management. This person establishes the files that are needed to install APPX applications, and performs on-going tasks to maintain the database environment, such as periodic file backups.
- The designer is the person who develops new APPX applications, or makes changes or enhancements to existing applications. If, as the user, you have questions or suggested improvements regarding particular features of an application, you should address them to the designer. Depending on your organization, the designer you need to contact may be an outside party.
- The user, sometimes called the end user, is the person who runs or executes an application that is written in APPX to perform business-related tasks, such as preparing a payroll.
