Chapter 8: Solve Connection and Import Problems

Check the dhsodbc.ini and appx.env Settings Files

Check these files on the gateway computer, substituting its actual installation folder:

type "C:\Windows\dhsodbc.ini"
type "C:\Program Files (x86)\AppxODBCserver\appx.dbs\appx.env"

The relevant INI entries are:

[Environment]
TPEROOT="C:\Program Files (x86)\AppxODBCserver"
DB_NAME=appx
TPESQLDBG=N

TPEROOT identifies the gateway root, not its bin folder. The dictionary's file is appx.dbs\appx.env, containing:

APPX_DATA_SERVER=localhost:31052

This is the APPX backend endpoint, separate from the gateway's measured TCP 1990. On a separate gateway computer, replace localhost with the APPX server's hostname. Keep dictionary appx separate from APPX Database ID DMO.

Back up both files before editing. Keep their .ini and .env extensions and preserve other existing settings. Open a fresh client connection after a correction. Connection-setting changes do not themselves require another ASQL import; changing to a different dictionary or APPX installation requires checking that installation's definitions and values.
