Chapter 4: Read APPX Data with WinSQL

Connect WinSQL and Read COUNTRY

Both statements were executed in a fresh WinSQL connection through the supplied 5.5.1 driver.

  1. Open WinSQL32. The tested release is WinSQL 15.0.261.801, 32-bit.
  2. Select File → New Connection and choose AppxODBC.
  3. Enter the APPX user and password and leave Remember Password unchecked.
  4. Choose Generic ODBC as the database plug-in and select OK.
  5. Execute SELECT COUNT(*) FROM DMO_DMO_COUNTRY. The result is 7.
  1. Replace that statement with SELECT * FROM DMO_DMO_COUNTRY ORDER BY name and execute it separately.
WinSQL returns all seven COUNTRY records and nine fields through the supplied driver.

The result should contain the full country names and the expected sample values. Run one statement at a time. Submitting both statements together produces a syntax error in this setup.
