Access Import Fails with the Supplied Driver

Access import fails with the supplied 5.5.1 driver. Repeating the import did not fix it. No working Access import procedure has been verified for this configuration. Nearest verified Access success: the 5.5.3 Access recipe passes with the 5.5.3 engine, gateway and ASQL, the 32-bit Dharma 14.01 driver from the official APPX 6.2.1 package, and 32-bit Microsoft 365 Access 16.0.20430.20182. Reproducing that result requires the documented 5.5.3 configuration; replacing only the driver has not been verified as a 5.5.1 Access repair.

Access can display appx.dmo_dmo_country in its table list, but selecting a table is not a completed import. The import then fails with ODBC--connection to 'AppxODBC' failed. A fresh Access process also failed, reporting Driver's SQLSetConnectAttr failed, SQLSTATE IM006, and Dharma -1016 Can't Connect to the Appx Data Server. Neither attempt produced an accepted COUNTRY table. A further fresh-process import with Service left blank also failed with the general connection error; clearing Service does not provide an Access workaround.

The successful follow-up query ran in PowerShell, not Access. Its seven correct records show that the gateway was still working for that separate client. That result does not demonstrate a successful Access import or a retry workaround. The cause of the Access failure has not been established.

For this 5.5.1 configuration, use the verified Excel recipe, LibreOffice Base recipe, or PowerShell query.
