Chapter 2: Install on Rocky Linux
Load the Extension for CLI
Follow the current ChartDirector PHP installation guide: load the matching extension by its absolute filesystem path and keep the complete vendor library directory together. The Linux filename ends in .dll even though it is a Linux shared library.
Create /etc/php.d/40-chartdirector.ini containing:
extension=/opt/ChartDirector/lib/phpchartdir830.dll
Then inspect the configuration and module list:
/usr/bin/php --ini
/usr/bin/php -m
/usr/bin/php -r \
'printf("PHP %s, %d-bit, %s\n", PHP_VERSION, PHP_INT_SIZE * 8, PHP_ZTS ? "TS" : "NTS");'
The vendor also supports loading a bare extension filename from PHP's extension_dir. For that alternative, copy all of ChartDirector/lib, including its fonts subdirectory, into that directory. Copying only phpchartdir830.dll is insufficient. The absolute-path method above avoids that extra copy.
Every new CLI invocation reads its configuration. There is no PHP web service to restart for a CLI-only change. If the extension fails to load, resolve the startup error before testing APPX. Changing a PHP-FPM pool or Apache configuration does not change this CLI interpreter.
