Chapter 2 describes all of the screens and files that are available in APPX’s system administration facilities. You will probably enter information in most of them at some point in time. However, you may want to get started in APPX quickly by providing some minimum information at first, and later return to the system administration screens to supplement the basic information with more complete specifications. Refer to the instructions in Chapter 2 for details of how to perform the minimum required steps that are listed here.
· Select System Administration from the APPX main menu and, from here, select System Setup and then System Administration File Management.
· Select Create Files, and create all of the system administration files.
· Return to the System Administration menu, select Database/Applications, and then Applications, and enter the name of your first application.
· Return to the Databases/Applications menu, select Databases/Applications, and enter the name of your first database.
· Select Enter twice, and enter the database/application combination.
· Return to the System Administration menu, select System Setup, and then System Administration File Management and run Update Sysdir.
· Return to the System Administration menu; select Security, and then Users, and enter names of people who are authorized to use APPX.
· Select Design Rights and enter the applications that each user is authorized to design or maintain or leave blank for all.
· Select Database Management Rights and enter the database IDs that each user is allowed to access or leave blank for all.
At this point, a designer can install or develop the specified application, and run it when it is ready.
