The Edit Modes and Options


When you enter the editor, you are initially placed in display mode. If you are reviewing or editing an existing routine, the first statements display on the screen (the exact number may vary, depending upon your terminal). If you are creating a new routine, all you see is [end] that indicates the end of the statements. To review existing statements, select from among the standard scrolling options to move around in an ILF routine. You can also use the arrow keys to position to a specific statement. If you want to perform any function other than displaying statements, you can select any of several other options. The following options are available (see corresponding sections for details):

iconsave.gif SAVE and EXIT

Select this icon from the tool bar to permanently save all the changes you make to an existing ILF routine, or to save a newly created routine.

iconadd.gif Add Mode allows entry of new statements.

icondel.gif Delete Mode allows deletion of existing statements.

iconchg.gif Change Mode allows editing of existing statements.

Toolbox allows quick access to the Database Management option.

Move provides for moving selected statements within the ILF routine.

Copy provides for duplicating selected statements within the ILF routine.

Search provides for searching the ILF routine for specific text.

Replace provides for replacing specific text within the ILF routine.

XCopy (external copy) provides for copying selected statements from another ILF routine.

Delete All Statements (Option 10) provides for deleting the entire ILF routine.

Restore All Deleted Statements (Option 11) provides for restoring.statements deleted by the last Option 10 assuming it was not followed by an End (Save and Exit).
