The most significant new feature in Release 5.4 is the ability to connect to an Appx server via a web browser. This allows users to connect to Appx from a desktop, tablet or smart phone without installing any software.

In addition, the following bugs have been corrected:
NOTE: Recover must be run on FMS Type 9 (64 bit pointer) files to fix an alignment issue. See 'Special Instructions when upgrading to 5.4.2' on http://wiki.appx.com/wiki/bin/view/Main/APPX500to502Upgrade
NOTE: Although this patch release includes changes to allow APPX on Linux or Unix to connect to SQL Server on Windows, this feature should be considered 'experimental' while it undergoes additional testing.
This release fixes a problem with large files. If a large file (FMS Type 9) was updated by more than one process at a time, there was the possiblity the file could be corrupted. This problem affected the Windows release only.
