It appears that this subroutine will not handle negative values when passed as standard APPX numeric fields (i.e., with a trailing minus sign). In order to display negative values, the numeric field must have a display mask with a leading sign (set your field into a formatted numeric field, then use CNV TEXT to turn it into an alpha, and pass that alpha value).
