The Components of a Statement

The previous example demonstrates a few of the statements. The following are some common items of information that you specify when you define a statement:

True/false indicators

A keyword (SET, COMPUTE, IF, etc.)

Field names (always associated with a specific application and, if appropriate, occurrence and appearance numbers)

File names

Constant values

Relationals (such as EQ and GT)

Arithmetic operators (such as + and -)
