Chapter 3-15: Using the GUI Image Editor
Image Editor Toolbar
The Image Editor toolbar contains many design tools not found on the standard APPX runtime toolbar. These tools allow the designer to easily perform a variety of image design functions.
The items on the toolbar are grouped in four categories:
APPX Options
· save and exit to save the image and exit the image editor.
· cancel to discard the changes made to the image and exit the image editor.
Paint Object Tools
· select a region defines the region of the image you want to perform your design work in.
· paint a button is used to place a button on the image and define its properties.
· paint a label is used to place a label (text) on the image and define its properties.
· paint a picture is used to place a picture (jpg or gif file, for example) on the image and define its properties.
· paint a box or line is used to place a box or line on the image and define its properties.
Data Palette, Cut/Copy/Paste and Edit Object Tools
· data palette opens the Data Palette and allows you to select and add data objects to the image from the Data Dictionary.
· cut selection is used to remove a selection from the image. It becomes available to be "pasted" elsewhere on the image, if desired.
· copy selection is used to copy a selection from the image so that it can be "pasted" or duplicated elsewhere.
· paste selection is used to place a previously "cut" or "copied" selection elsewhere on the image. Note that this icon cannot be selected until a selection has been "cut" or "copied".
· edit object properties is used to edit the properties of a previously defined and selected button, label, picture, box or line.
Alignment and Sizing Icons
· align tops aligns the tops of two or more selected objects.
· align bottoms aligns the bottoms of two or more selected objects.
· align left sides aligns the left sides of two or more selected objects.
· align right sides aligns the right sides of two or more selected objects.
· make same size (vertically) makes two or more selected objects the same height.
· make same size (horizontally) makes two or more selected objects the same width.
