Query Process Concepts


Query processes determine the records that are available to a subsequent input, update, or output process, and/or establish the order the records are processed in (the sort hierarchy).

At your option, queries permit an application user to dynamically define:

·     The records that are available to a process.

·     The order in which those records are presented.

The query affects only those subsequent processes that you elect to use the query for. You do so by completing a Use Query specification for the process’ child invocation. Refer to Chapter 3-13, Child Specifications, for instructions on completing the Use Query specification.
