APPX 5 - Linux/Unix - New Installation



Overview

Hay modos diferentes para instalar APPX en Linux/Unix. Hay un GUI installer y un Console Mode instalador (caracter mode). El mismo instalador es usado para los dos metodos. O instalador automaticamente va a detectar si esta rodando como un comando o como un Java Client, pero en algunos casos usted tendrá que adicionar "-c" en la linea de comando para forzar el instalador (caracter mode). Independentemente del metodo usado, el resultado es lo mismo. Una instalación tipica de APPX en un sistema donde APPX no fue instalado previamente va seguir los seguintes pasos:

  1. Crear un usuario en un O/S "appx" y un grupo "appxgrp".
  2. Crear un directorio de destinacion y instalar APPX en el.
  3. Fijar las permissiones apropriables
  4. Rodar APPX y asegurse que usted complete la configuracion
    • Agregar APPX System Administrators a APPX user file
    • Configurar y rodar APPX Login Manager service
    • Configurar y rodar APPX Audit Manager service
    • Instalar el registro de APPX

GUI Installation on Linux/Unix

Hay que logar en su sistema como "root" user.

Bajar el instalador APPX/Linux GUI (appxsetup.sh) de sitio de APPX o del servidor APPX ftp server y guardar en su Desktop o en una carpeta. Las instrucciones van se referir al archivo appxsetup.sh, o el nombre del instalador de Linux. Los instaladores para otros sistemas tienen nombres semejantes, ie, appxsetup-aix.sh para AIX, appxsetup-sun.sh para Solaris, etc. Si usted esta bajando directamente del sitio de ftp, estea cierto de seleccionar el instaler correcto para su O/S, y cambie el nombre del instalador con estas instrucciones.

Cambie las permisiones en el archivo bajado para tener permisiones Execute.

Rode un archivo instalador (appxsetup.sh). Si usted tiene una pantalla con "Run or Display?" semejante a la pantalla abajo, seleccione el botón "Run".

Despues de unos momentos, APPX Setup Wizard va exhibir una pantalla Welcome. Seleccione el botón "Next" para continuar.

Lea y acepte el contrato de licencia.

Especifique Destination Directory donde APPX va ser instalado. Como conversion, APPX normalmente se instalaa en /usr/local/appx pero puede ser instalado en un directorio de su escoja.

Usted sera advertido si ed if the destination directory already exists. Otherwise, the APPX Setup Wizard will create it.

APPX will then be installed into the specified destination directory.

When the APPX Setup Wizard displays the final screen, click on the Finish button to end the APPX Setup Wizard and to automatically run APPX to complete the configuration and installation of APPX.

When you click on the Finish button, an APPX session will be automatically launched to run APPX to complete the installationof the APPX environment.

Finally, if you intend to log into APPX as user "appx", then you must add a password for the "appx" o/s user that was created by the installer (use the "passwd appx" command).

After completing the above steps, you should be able to login to APPX as user "appx" from a remote desktop using the ADC.

Character Mode Installation

If you don't have access to a GUI, you can run the Appx installer in character mode by appending "-c" to the command line. After a few moments, the Appx Setup Wizard should display the Welcome message. Press Enter to continue the installation.

# ./appxsetup.sh -c

Preparing JRE ...
Starting Installer ...
This will install Appx on your computer.

Next, read and accept the License agreement. Press Enter as each page is displayed.

Please read the following License Agreement. You must accept the terms of this agreement before continuing with the installation.

Definitions:

"Software License Agreement (SLA)" shall mean this Software License document and the associated *License Key document collectively.

After all the files have been installed, you will have to run an APPX session to complete the installation of the APPX environment.

If you are installing in character mode, then follow these steps to complete the installation. These should be run as root user :

  • Change to the directory where appx was installed (i.e., cd /usr/local/appx)
  • Run appx (./appx) in character mode to complete the installation and configuration
    • Configure and start the services
    • Add additional System Admin users
    • Import the registration
  • Add a password for the "appx" o/s user that was created by the installer (use the "passwd appx" command)

After completing the above steps, you should be able to successfully log in to appx as user "appx" from a remote desktop using the ADC.
