SELECTED DATABASE

This field is set to the current contents of NEXT DATABASE by the SELECT DATABASE predefined subroutine process. The current value of the predefined field DATABASE remains unaffected when that input process is executed. Instead, the current value of SELECTED DATABASE is modified, which in turn is used to determine the initial value of DATABASE the next time a child process is invoked as detached.
