A Specification Approach

APPX allows you to develop applications using a specification approach. Using this method, you supply responses to a number of pre-established questions or choices, and APPX produces the desired application products (menus, input screens, reports, etc.). The specification method to system design differs from the more traditional technique of using a procedural language (such as COBOL) to develop applications. APPX actually incorporates both techniques because it has its own Integrated Language Facility (ILF) that supplements the specification tools. You can develop complete applications using only the specification method. Or, in complex situations, ILF routines can supplement the specifications to perform more sophisticated operations or to provide explicit instructions to APPX. These ILF routines become an integrated part of application design.
